And I thought It would be somehow enhanced. ![]() it did around 700 damage to heide knights. I when I was doing NG+ run at heide tower, I've decided to see what damage it would do on normal sanctum crossbow. I am not sure if it's a good idea to use it on bosses, but I'll give it a go.Ībout how I found dark infusion discovery. I have 50 INT+FTH, because why not, I am using only PvE wise anyway.Ībout Engraved Gauntlets though! Good call, it might be the case where I could use them. Yes, I am using Bracing knuckle ring+2, it helps a lot on that. You can also cut durability drain in half with the Bracing Knuckle Ring +2. Can't buff crossbows (without glitches) and self buffs are defensive or increase physical damage and the one debuff there is only decreases physical defense. You could've just donned the Black Witch Hat or rings for more attunements slots, but there aren't any spells, that would increase the crossbow's special anyways. I can see the latter being better on the repeating one, if each orb has it's own chance to crit. Other than that, being at low HP with the Red-Tearstone Ring or the occasional crit from Engraved Gauntlets are the only other things i can think of. Originally posted by JellyPuff:Since it does have dark scaling, i'd assume that it's special gets some extra damage from your Dark BNS, so try 30INT+FTH You can use red tearstone ring, but its very risky What I have to boost this damage now - infusion on dark & dark clutch ring.Īny suggestions on increasing damage? Note what I must not use any spells, because on that will be repair, since I have to "Reload" those crossbows (I am using glitch here to have 62 repairs, so I can reload without a problem). Normal crossbow's special on Sanctum Soldiers (with mace) deal 507 damage, while repeating deals 704 with all pellets hit. I am wielding a couple of normal crossbows and repeating. But I was wondering, if I could boost the damage of this special even further? It's like something new I have never tried before. I have so much fun with (Repeating) Sanctum Crossbows because of their special attack. While I am trying to get through and burn all bonfires to intensity 10 (just for fun), I am experimenting with my bows/crossbows. I suggest going with Heavy-repeating, while carrying also a Light one for the first levels, before you get Rapid Shot.Originally posted by Miles (Tails) Prower:Hello everyone! :SonicManiaTails: For fast battles, this won't be a problem, and generally you won't reload your crossbow more than once during an average battle. However it will cost you a full-round reloading every 2/3 rounds after you take Rapid Shot (before then, you'll need to reload once every 5 rounds, which is the average length of an encounter, so you won't mind). Not only it scores 1 more point of damage (which is not negligible at low levels, when you deal ~7.5 dmg per shot), it also saves you from taking Rapid Reload, effectively giving you a bonus feat. If you don't want to go human, or you need another feat (namely Precise Shot), you might consider going with a Heavy-repeating one. However, at 4th level you will have at most 4 feats (if you go human), which then will necessarily be: Rapid Reload, PBS, Rapid Shot, Deadly Aim. The safest option is Light crossbow and Rapid Reload feat to reload it as a free action and take advantage of the Rapid Shot feat. I'm sure they'll do okay, but don't be surprised when you can't actually hit because your melee allies are in your way (-8 to hit, or -4 if you took Precise Shot)Įdit: Apparently, Bolt Ace's don't get rapid reload. Heavy Crossbow with move action reloadingPersonally, I'd probably go with the Light Crossbow, as the Heavy Crossbow isn't really that much better (In theory, Crossbow Master eliminates all the disadvantages of the Heavy Crossbow, but that's not an easy feat to squeeze into such a low level build).įinally, don't expect your Bolt Ace to be too impressive in combat: At low levels, they won't do a lot of damage (no 'dex to damage' until 5th level), nor are they particularly accurate (no attacks against touch AC without spending Grit).Light Crossbow with free action reloading, or.Bolt Aces get Rapid Reload at first level, so a Light Crossbow will fire at least as fast for you as a repeating crossbow. What is the "best" starting weapon for a Bolt Ace? Light? Heavy? Repeating? It's for a low level campaign, will probably never reach lvl 4. Just found it strange that one of the weapons was so much more expensive than the other options, but the argument that it's realisme, not balance makes sense.
